Outline for the debate


I. Debate order for each topic
    A. Affirmative constructive arguments
    B. Negative constructive arguments
    C. Negative rebuttal
    D. Affirmative rebuttal

II. Requirements:
    A. Oral presentation: Each person on your team must speak for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes on his/her aspect of the team topic during constructive arguments.
    B. Oral presentation: Each person must speak 1 to 1/2 minutes during the team's rebuttal.
    C. A double spaced, typewritten copy of your constructive argument is due on the day of your oral argument. It must be 3/4 to 1 page in length in order to achieve full credit (12- pt. font). You must include an outside source (an interview, a magazine, journal or newspaper article, a T.V. program, etc.) in your argument. This source should be cited in the correct style at the end of your paper.

III. Grading: 50 Quiz/ Test points total
    A. Oral grade: 20 points
        1. The following criteria will be evaluated: pronunciation, fluency, use of vocabulary, syntax (grammar structures and functions), the persuasive quality of your argument, and the enthusiasm you show during its delivery.
    B. Group performance: 10 points
    C. Written grade: 20 points
        1. The following criteria will be evaluated: content, comprehensibility, organization, and presentation, accuracy (grammar, vocabulary, spelling, etc.), and effort.
    D. You will also be required to complete a self evaluation form to assess your contribution to the team's work during this activity.
