Geometry - Culminating Poster Activity

Content Standards:

Task

The students will be paired up in groups of two and given a list of all the postulates, theorems, and definitions that we have covered in this unit. Each pair will be required to set up their own proofs to be proven. A mind map must be formed by each group giving a visual image of their ideas. There is not a minimum amount of proofs that need to be formed, as long as they cover all the postulates, theorems, and definitions somewhere. Each group will not only set up the proof, they will also actually prove their conclusions. These proofs will be done on poster size paper that will be given to them. The finished posters will be hung up in the room. The students will have two class periods to finish the project. On the second day each group must do a peer critique of another group’s project. The students will be given the rubric by which they will be graded, which will also be the rubric by which they are doing their peer critiques. The peer critiques will be shared with each group immediately after they are finished.

 

Culminating Poster Activity Criteria

The group will be assessed on the following items.

Content:


1) Number of definitions, postulates, and theorems used.

2) Number of definitions, postulates, and theorems used correctly and in proper order.
3) Diagrams are labeled and marked correctly.

Process:

4) Organization of posters.

5) Number of ideas in mind map.
