Causes/Consequences of
French and Indian War
Students will identify the causes and consequences of the French and
Indian War
Students will organize thoughts
Students will utilize selected computer technology resources
Students will identify main ideas from a reading passage
Organizing information visually is often a great way to understand and
remember complex information. We will use the computer program Inspiration
in order to organize the causes and consequences of the French and Indian
War in a meaningful manner - in the format of a concept map.
Task Specifics:
1. Prior to our class period in the computer lab, you will need to
create an outline of the causes and consequences of the French and Indian
War. In case you are not familiar with creating an outline, here is a
general example:
I. Main Topic #1
A. Subtopic
1. Main Point of Subtopic
2. Main Point of Subtopic
a. Sub-main Points
b. Sub-main Points
B. Subtopic #2
1.
a.
b.
c.
2.
3.
C. Subtopic #3
1.
2.
ETC......
2. In your outline, you will need to include the following Subtopics
(the French and Indian War is your Main Topic):
-main causes
-short-term consequences
-long-term consequences (make sure you include information from the
textbook all the way through the end of Ch.3, Sec. 4 for the long-term
consequences!)
After these Subtopics, it is up to you how you would like to arrange
the rest of the information (if you are having trouble doing this, please
see me before we go to the computer lab for help!)
3. When we get to the computer lab, you will want to have your outline
out and ready to go. You will follow along with me as I walk you through
the basic steps of Inspiration, and then you will have the rest
of the class period to create your own concept map.
Your concept map should include all of the main ideas (be careful as
you create your outline that you do not include any details that seem
insignificant) about the causes and consequences of the French and Indian
War. The information should be historically correct, and should be arranged
in a clear and logical order.
