Julia Faulcon-Gary describes her assignment as follows:

"I will instruct my class to take at least 12 pictures that they think will represent who they are: a self-portrait. They are to then write a 3-4 page essay explaining how their respective pictures reflect their self-concept, perceived self-control and self-presentation. This assignment is based on having read a chapter on "The Self in a Social World" from David G. Myers' textbook.

Secondly, I will have students exchange their pictures with a classmate and have them write a 3-4 page essay on their perceptions of their classmates from the pictures. This assignment is based on a chapter covering "Social Beliefs and Judgements."

I believe these two exercises will allow my students to experience social theory/concepts in action."
