A rubric is a scoring scale for an assessment. It is composed of the criteria to be used for evaluation on the assessment (e.g., "correctly identified independent variable" and "well written") and levels of performance across those criteria (e.g., "excellent," "good," etc.). By giving you the rubric before the assignment is due, you can clearly see what criteria I will be using to evaluate you as well as how much weight I am giving each criterion.
